Leeds United defeat Micah Richards in relegation prediction
Micah Richards has been baffled by Leeds United and his team in the Premier League this season.
The Whites were demolished 7-0 by Manchester City midweek (December 14) and have the chance to raise the bar against Arsenal tonight.
Richards insisted he was baffled looking at Marcelo Bielsa’s tactics at the Etihad, but admitted he had no concerns about relegation.
Writing in his Daily Mail column this week (December 17), Richards insisted that things need to change quickly.
“It might sound strange to talk about a team which have just been beaten 7-0 and are close to the relegation zone, but I have no worries about Leeds,” he said.
“Some of the things they do confuse me, like continuing to play man for man against Manchester City when they were already losing 3-0, but I don’t expect them to be relegated and I don’t think so may this result at the Etihad reflect where they are.
“There are, however, areas that they need to master. On the pitch, players have to take responsibility when things don’t go well. They can’t keep making basic mistakes over and over again.
As much as we would like to agree with Richards, it is hard not to be afraid of the dreaded fall at Elland Road.
Bielsa still doesn’t have a full senior starting XI to choose from as our injury crisis worsens, and the longer it lasts, the more problems we have.
One factor that could be a saving grace is that there appear to be at least three worse teams in the Premier League still.
The likes of Newcastle and Norwich are currently on the downside ahead of the January transfer window, but we know how things can change then.
Victor Orta will also have to be busy in the next window to help Bielsa, but hopefully we can keep that five-point gap with the last three and push to extend it as the games go.
