“I think credit goes to the team for having a lot of confidence in themselves and coming back strong after hitting badly in the first innings. My round is definitely one of my best and I’m glad it helped us draw. Babar said during the post-match conference.
He said he always rates his innings very well which played a big part in whether Pakistan won a game or saved it.
The top hitter also admitted that he and Mohammad Rizwan didn’t give much thought to trying to chase the total and when the wickets came down they played for a draw.

Babar added that if he and Rizwan had beaten together a bit longer, they would have gone for a chase, but when he and Faheem Ashraf went out on successive balls, the best option was to play for a draw.
The Pakistani captain also didn’t take criticism on the pitches used so far in the two Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi, insisting they were the same for both teams.
“In Karachi you usually get a reverse swing and Australian bowlers had that on day three and we helped with some soft dismissals.”
He noted that the spinners also had a turn in Karachi and the cricket test was always tough but the ground was not easy to beat as you had to concentrate hard and it was not easy for a new batsman to go to bat.

Cummins pleased with team performance
Australia captain Pat Cummins said he was happy and proud of the way his side had played despite failing to win from an advantageous position.
“I think before coming to Pakistan in the different conditions here, we would have gladly taken a 0-0 line after two tests. Yes, after coming so close, it’s a missed opportunity but we haven’t lost anything. he said in a post-match conference.
Cummins also said it was a combination of some costly missed chances by Australia and some fantastically good hitting from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique that led to a draw.
“I think first of all it was a very good test and if we had taken our grips it could have been different for us. But I’m proud and happy with the way we played throughout. this game, he added.
Cummins also said that while the pitch helped the spinners a little more on the final day, it didn’t break and play as many rounds as expected on days four and five.
Nor did he think that even if Australia had imposed the follow-up after beating Pakistan for 148 runs in 53 overs, it would have made a difference in the final result.

“I think the pitch was pretty good on the last day and they hit really well. We created more chances and if we had taken a few catches it would have been a different storyline, but that’s how it is in Test cricket,” he said.
Cummins knocked out Pakistan for 53 overs in their first innings then batted 171.4 overs to save the game to reverse the swing playing a big part in the second session on day three when Pakistan were knocked out at lesser cost.
“I think reverse swing bowling can be a real factor on the game, especially if you get a breakthrough and get a new hitter really quickly, but I thought Babar, Rizwan, Shafique, they beat the guys fantastically. last two days.”
Cummins felt he had tried everything he could get.
“Honestly, I left the pitch today not feeling like there was something we hadn’t tried or a plan we hadn’t given a chance,” he said.
