AIADMK announcing its state alliance with BJP, the party led by EPS-OPS had refuted any possibility of reconciliation with Sasikala, who has now been released from prison and is trying to claim that she is the general secretary of AIADMK. Jaya’s former assistant Sasikala announced her sudden decision to quit politics on Monday, ending speculation about her role in the upcoming elections. The larger faction of AIADMK led by EPS-OPS, on the other hand, is wary that Dhinakaran potentially finds himself in a position where they could be the kingmakers if there is a stuck assembly. Meanwhile, in a bid to woo voters, EPS announced a massive waiver of farm loans, free COVID vaccines, a Pongal giveaway, and canceled cases against Jallikattu protesters, anti-CAA protesters, lockdown violators COVID and protesters at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. The elections will take place on April 6 and the results will be announced on May 2.
